Did you want to know what happened? Come on, you know you do. I wrote the notes just for you, but first I need payment. I know how mean of me asking for payment for the notes. It took me forever to make them just the way you like them. I just need a hug, a glass of milk and at least single forum post. You think you can handle that?

Okay, okay you win. Take the link to the forums in which you can find it. If you don’t have access then you are not part of our membership or… you don’t have permissions. If you are a member but don’t have permissions, please let us know we will get you access.

You better show up the next time, if ya don’t I am not sure you will like what I will make you do for those notes.

It is that time of year again, you guessed it.. Game update time. GU 58 is coming to a station launcher near you. I am sure by now that you have heard that it is expected to arrive this Tuesday!!! I wanted to take a moment to go over the patch notes that I have seen for the pre-release.

I guess I will start off with the thing I am excited about… an outside area in my house. That’s right.. We are remodeling our houses, our 6 rooms are just about to be bigger!! We get a deck and outdoor area too!! Also on the housing front, we are getting the ability to put more things in our houses and not have to worry about what is in the moving crate. We asked for them to remove the item count for items that we packed in our crates, well now they count as items on their own. If your house count is 400 items, your crate can now hold 400 items ontop of the 400 house count, and of course the books still don’t count. We are also supposed to be getting additional item count for our larger houses for the new area. Another thing to look forward to for next month when the city festival comes through; Doors! Finally after being requested over and over.. we are now getting doors. Have a look, Den mum was awesome and got us a few pictures to see what to expect.

Another great thing to look forward to UI changes,I know that those who use custom UI’s are going to grumble but adding the tab for currency is a great thing. You can take those Marks, and Shards and all of those tokens that you get for each event and place them into a single place and it won’t take up your precious inventory space. However there is a catch, you won’t see those tokens in your alt inventory, you have to physically remove them and place in the shred bank to give to your alt.

Also under the UI changes, appearance mounts. That is right, now you can look like you are riding that beautiful rime horse you worked oh so hard for but still have the speed of a kitty mount. Also with that appearance mount tab you also have a new achievement for the amount of mounts you have. More reasons to collect your favorite mounts.

More proof that they listen, we are now getting different colors for up to 20 chat channels!! Just as well we also can have 40 chat channels going at the same time, and they will be restored between sessions. So now you can see everything clearly and even not miss a thing.

Trade windows are getting an upgrade too. Do you remember when you wanted to trade all those shinies, books and even a few spell books too and you would have to sit there only being able to do 6 at a time? Well wait no more, we are now able to do 12 at a time! No more waiting or having to open those trade windows again and again. It is now easier than ever.

Betrayals… did you ever for RP reasons, or even because you loved a house in Freeport more than in Qeynos, want to betray and not lose those mastered spells? If you answered yes, get ready for more good news. Now you are able to betray to Freeport and not have to worry about losing that mastered spell that you spent plat on or begged your Alchemist to make for you. But of course you have to remember that there is going to be some well warnings… all spells apprentice and above won’t be lost if you are betraying from the same class; and if you are betraying to another class you won’t lose those spells apprentice and above if they are in the other class, but all new spells are apprentice. So much fine print… I honestly suggest you look this one up cause this confuses this little Gnome.

Woodworkers rejoice! Now those totems that we all know and love, yeah they will be stacking to 100. Now we can save even more bag space, because I don’t know about you but I have very little as it is, even with those 40 slot bags. Oh and another bag saver, your ammo, ninja stars, throwing knives and the such; yeah they now stack to 200. Speaking of more space, the guild hall harvesting depot now holds 50 more unique items making it now hold 200. I don’t know about other guilds but the legion had to start putting our T1 items in the guild bank! Again you know what that means MORE SPACE!!!!

More on the Tradeskill front, Are you a tinkerer, or want to learn the craft? You better be careful because when you miss a counter you might blow up the guild hall. The graphics for missed counters now include fireballs and fireworks. Also did you get as confused as I did when looking for what the T5 fuel was? It was just so confusing, well now all of our fuels will be standardized so now you know what the T5 and T6 fuel is.

Double attack is now being changed to Multi attack, so if you get over 100% you are able to now have a guaranteed hit on the second attack and a chance to hit on the third and the so on. So who do you love the most right?

And the last item that I will mention for changes is an art issue. Now this issue is high on my I can’t wait until this update is out so I can wear dresses again! If you guessed that the thing I am most excited about.. the dreaded Gnomish panty line. I guess from what the forums state, this issue was happening with Halflings too… What is it with us short races and that panty line…Just because we are short we are not showing the entire world our undergarments. Or if we are going to show them.. Give us an option to choose the color. Either way, there is no worries now as they are fixing it come Tuesday!!! Let us all dance and rejoice together, we can look sexy again.

Well as you know there is a lot more things to expect from this Game update, but you will just have to read the patch notes and experience it all for yourself. There was just tooo much good stuff to cover. I am sure you all have your favorite thing about the next GU, what is yours?

New beginnings, what does that mean to me? Well it is a time in your life where you can respect what had happened in the past as that is what makes you who you are today. But not allow yourself to not to focus on the bad instead focus on what is good. I decided after the many years as a Qeynosian that it was time for a change for the better. Now that Erollsi had touched my life once again I decided that it is no other better place to go than to New Halas.

Months of planning, packing, saving, and sorting through the years of memories and junk that lay around the house, I took my possessions and traveled to the new land. Before leaving Qeynos I had talked with the ambassador at the harbor and asked for the paperwork for my change of citizenship. I was thinking that it would be a lot of work for them to trust me and that I would not have been easily accepted. They had been lost and were being bombarded with new people when the first ship was planned to go.

After the long travel with a lot of others and my love Nikatell, we finally arrived upon the docks. The first thing I realized was it was cold, very, very cold. Just like how I remembered Halas was, cold and I was quickly surprised that the Coldain were there. After I adjusted taking in the new sights of home at the dock, and holding fast to my fire mount, and my love. We decided it was time to explore the city proper, and find a new home.

Following the constructed path up to the city proper all we could see was snow. and who would have thought spiders would survive in snow and ice, at least you can say some things never change. At the end of the road that opens to the main city I saw what we had come here for, Erollisi, she was in all of her blessed glory. I have not seen anything so beautiful in the years that I have been here upon Norrath. Immediately drawn to her, I nearly ran to her statue not caring that there were others watching I bowed my head in a prayer, thanking her for the gifts she had given us. Anyone that says that Erollisi is dead is wrong, she may not be physically here upon Norrath but as long as there are lovers, family and friends you will always have Erollisi’s blessings.

After my respects were paid we went in search to familiarize myself with our new home town, where the trainers are, and where the crafting area is. The little things that you need in your life that it would be just easier to know where they are, and it is an excuse to get lost in your new home city. After getting los familiarizing my self with my city we found the ambassador who took our papers and warmly welcomed me to New Halas. I was in shock, I didn’t think that he would welcome us just like that. No questions as to why we are here, no kill 20 rats or in this case spiders. Just welcome to New Halas.

Thanking him with the warmth of my heart, what little warmth I could muster in this freezing cold, I had asked which way to the housing. He gave me directions pointing to another tunnel, I trusted him as I had no other directions to follow, I went in search of housing. Each sight I passed was more and more breath taking. Spending a moment to take it all in. Thinking over and over that this is our new home, our new beginning.

Asking a few people here and there as to where we were supposed to be, together we found the housing district. We looked at all of the options, the 1 bedroom, the 3 bedroom and even the 5 bedroom place. We toured each house and just couldn’t get enough of how the wood looked, the stone, the picture frame windows. We were touring the 5 room place and turned to the large picture frame window that looked over the water to see the one thing I love almost more than him and Erollisi, a Sunset. It took my breath away the beauty of it, I was sold. After consulting with him we couldn’t justify anything smaller than the 5 bedroom place, so we bought it, only after the fact that we noticed that the address was “Manors of Erollisi”.

The long trip here and choosing the house now coming to a close for the night, I am just grateful to be starting on the new beginning with someone I truly care about. The decorating will commence just as soon as we start a fire and get warm. To all the Norrathians who now call New Halas home, may your days be blessed with beautiful sights and the nights be kept warm with loved ones by the fire.

Bristlebane day; the day filled with tricks, pranks and flying pies. Some love this holiday while others have a great disdain for it. Me? I enjoy the fun and tricks; so long as they are not aimed at me. How could you go wrong with a little mischief and mayhem? This year started out by receiving a post announcing the festivities and to beware of the flying pies. It also said in this post that there was a very special event to complete on the 1st to look forward to. After reading it and with Bristlebane Day in full swing in Norrath I decided to brave the outdoors and take matters in my own hands finding mischief of my own to get into.

While wandering through Greater Faydark I noticed this funny looking bush and curious as Gnomes are I decided to harvest from it. It couldn’t hurt right? What is the worst that could happen? Within this bush I had found Halfling stilts, High Elf funny bones, Erudite toupees and … … Ogre tutus. Seriously… Tutus on an Ogre, that is not a vision or sight I wanted to see. Some how we are able to make things from these items, at least that is what Denmum says. Don’t get me wrong I believe her, I really do, but how do you get a pie from a coin anyways??

Along my travels through the Faydark harvesting more of these bushes, I saw the avatar of Bristlebane, he was HUGE!!! There is nothing that tells you that it is Bristlebane day without seeing the avatar. He didn’t have a quest for me this year but his quest was the same as last year from what my friends had said. Although, I don’t remember what that task was. What I do remember was that I got a nifty hat/pot out of the deal and this time there was an option for a deck of cards.

After spending a few moments to say Hi to the Avatar, I went to the Gigglegibber in the Enchanted Lands. He had another task for me, it was the same as last year, kill 10 rats. After going back and forth from Enchanted lands to the Commonlands in search of the “right” rats 3 times, which I found out that he didn’t really care what the size of the rat really, silly Goblin. Once the task was fulfilled he finally gave me a few choices one of which was a nifty bottle. I am not sure what that bottle does but someday I will have the guts to find out.

April 1st’s task was interesting, a sphinx sat in the middle of the enchanted lands. Okay maybe not in the middle of but he was sitting under a tree just off the dock. The curiosity getting the better of me I decided to ask him why he was here. Instead he gave me a riddle, I am terrible with riddles. After he told me the riddle I had guessed… and gasp I got it right. He finally told me why he was here, needed a scholar. Well I am not a scholar but I am smart so I offer my services, he then asked yet another riddle. This time having to with the kitchen and eating, cut with out being eaten.

After searching and thinking what it could be, a plate or saucer? I thought back to learning a card game with a friend and we were at the table and it looked like we were cutting the deck and you can’t eat them unless you are umm really, really hungry. Not knowing where to find the cards would be in Darklight Woods I asked around to find out there was a fare in town, they had to have a deck of cards. I would only imagine it would get boring traveling around. After finding the cards and asking permission to take them (which I had to sweet talk them out of him) I headed back to show my answer.

He then gave me yet another riddle, again food related. Now I know a lot of foods but what would he eat in Antonica that isn’t fish, feather, bone or flesh? Well off to Antonica I ran. Well there is a lot of foods that he could have well for lack of a better term nommed. I mean Jum Jum, berries, even cocoa. First to find the beach, you know there are a lot of beaches in antonica, A LOT!!! After combing the beaches of Antonica I finally found it, an egg?? On a beach?!? Really?!? Well I guess that has to be it. Well back once again to the Sphinx.

I get back and hand him his lunch, an egg. Then he says I have one more riddle for you. Have I mentioned how I hate riddles? With a passion I hate them… but because he was nice I will do ONE MORE riddle. That is it.. ONE. He tells me about streets and no pavement, forests without trees. This one was harder because it wasn’t in my area of expertise. But after lots of thought and asking a ranger or two. I finally found the answer a map. After trudging through the forest to find said map I come back hopefully being done with these stupid riddles. Upon finding my way back once again to the Enchanted lands I offered the map to him and his response, I proved myself as an adventurer and a scholar. What did he give me? A twenty sided stone, maybe next time he will give me something I can actually use in my home like a cookie sheet or two.

To everyone have a safe and happy Bristlebane day, and watch out for those flying pies.

This weekend was the Faydwer Faire in the city of Kelethin. This was a celebration of the changing of the seasons from the winter to the spring. There were many events going on throughout the entire weekend in the Greater Faydark that everyone could join in on. They had a bardic competition, champions of the faydark challenge, archery competitions, date auctions, and even some jumping competitions. So many competitions, races and the like that no one could be bored if they wanted to.

The one event that perked my interest was the cookie competition. Being a baker by trade, I was very interested in participating. This being my first bake-off so I was very scared and not sure I would do well but it was well worth the effort and the experience. Looking around there was a lot of onlookers and commotion. I was one of six participants that signed up for the contest. The rules were simple make a batch of cookies with the secret ingredient. There were two timed rounds to bake and after each round our cookies were to be judged by the three judges. One of the judges seemed to have a bottomless pit of a stomach, but with such delights well who wouldn’t.

The first secret ingredient was Faeberries. There were some bumps in the road for all, preparing the berry, cooking times, and even getting used to the ovens. Each person made their best cookie, one was a fae cookie that was a little over done, and another was the judges faces on them. One cookie looked like the judges were puzzled at its taste but however did their best to judge fairly. Thinking about all the possibilities of the faeberry, taste texture and the like I decided to make a rendition of my frostfell cookie, Chocolate faeberry cookie with a cream cheese frosting. I tried my best to display the sweet taste of the faeberry and the slight earthyness of the Jum by adding my secret ingredient in. The judges took each cookie pondering the taste, texture and sheer use of the berry. Upon everyone getting judged we had a few moments to clean our stations before starting the second round.

Shortly the announcer asked if we were ready for round two, with excitement we all exclaimed that we were ready. The second secret ingredient was Jum Jum, now I thought I kind of had an unfair advantage as this ingredient was something I work with every day. After methodically taking apart the Jum my thoughts raced as to what I was making figuring I wanted to go all out I decided to display the different earthy yet sweet pleasures of the Jum. I worked my way to a chocolate chip cookie with added Jum and glazed it with a chocolate glaze and adding candied jum in the shape of smily faces for decoration.

After creating my cookie I looked at the others, There was some talent in this round like no other a snowman looking cookie, peanut butter no bake, spider crunch with Jum added, a singing palette cookie and a few others. During judging there was some… what I could consider as mishaps. The first round went great little issue or mishaps but the second round I couldn’t help but to smile. I felt bad about the participants and little more for the judges. However with both rounds completed the judges huddled to make their decision.

While the judging was taking place we all were bitting our nails, and cosuling each other on our mistakes and celebrating our successes. After what seemed to be hour, they announced that it was a close battle between all of us. Winning second place for best cookie (and RP) was Pluf. The best RP was Noelly and the Best tasting cookie was Santinea…. Wait that is me. I couldn’t believe that my first go to a competition that I would win the best tasting cookie. My jaw dropped and I was in disbelief I couldn’t believe that I had won such a competition, everyone was great and did their best.

I think that come the Festival of Unity I may take a stab at the next cooking competition. I have found it is a great way to meet new friends, compare recipes and find job opportunities. You never know you will meet at the faire, and who knows you might get a job offer there.

For more information on this festival go to their website, www.faydwerfaire.com.

My question I pose to you is do you hug a tree or slay it? I am all for being of the tree hugging persuasion, considering being around Feir’dal’s and all, but since when do these trees start to “hug” back? I have seen many trees in my lifetime and really I have never completely understood why these trees try to show us affection. Or is it really affection? Maybe instead they feel disdain for our very existence and want to show us how they feel.

There are many trees in Norrath but which of them do you trust? The trees in Kelethin holding up the city seem nice enough I mean they don’t move. But there are some rogues out there in the Greater Faydark. How about the ones in Nektulos forest? They can really give you a what for if you are still a bit on the little side. The ones in Eye of Daratin, oh my run in with them, they hurt like a tinkered explosion of massive proportion, only this time it was definitely lights out.

I bring up this point as I have noticed that with my recent run in with them they have been a bit more aggressive, or is that loving. It could be that I am not of the season for them or maybe they just like to pick on someone physically smaller than they are. Either way, I love trees just like the last gnome, but when they tried to “hug”… it hurt… a lot. I don’t just mean a little bruise on your shoulder, sliver in your finger, or the “I’m not dead yet” type of hurt. No, it is the deep tissue bruising, dislocating your shoulder, knocking you on your behind kind of hurt. Have you ever been beat up by a tree many times over until you are knocked unconscious not once but multiple times over just because you were determined to prove your point? Yeah that was me. It makes me wonder what we did to make them mad or are they just excited to see us.

Whatever the reason the question still remains, do we hug the tree and cause it no harm or do you tell them to pick on someone their own size? I suppose it all depends on where in Norrath you are. But if that tree decides that it wants to come after me with branches open wide for either a “hug” or to show me how they really feel I am going to stand there with my staff at hand ready to strike. Not because I don’t trust that the tree really wants to show me affection but yet instead I fear that it wants to pick on someone smaller than they.

Be careful out there Norrathians, you just don’t know what those crazy trees will do to you. I suppose if the tree is standing there feel free to come give it a hug to show your appreciation for what they provide to you. Until then if that tree comes right at me I plan on proving the point, you can’t just pick on someone smaller than you just because you can. We may be small but boy do we pack quite a punch.
