Another documentary-type for LARPing is called Monster Camp. I only really know about it because some of my friends were in it and it was filmed at a chapter of the LARP I participate in up in Seattle. :)

Wow...brought up a whole list of similar movies on Amazon, like Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Red Sonja, Clash of the Titans, The Name of the Rose (medieval monk who-dunnit with Sean Connery), Dragonslayer (one of the first fantasy movies I saw using live actors), and a bunch of King Arthur spin-offs, like The Mists of Avalon, First Knight and Ivanhoe. I know, some of these are more medieval time-frame than fantasy, but most fantasy games tend to borrow heavily from it.

Oooh, Ladyhawke, good movie...I need to add that to my dvd collection, if it's out in dvd, that is. How about A Knight's Tale, with the late Heath Ledger?

The first Dungeons & Dragons movie makes a *lot* more sense if you look at it a bit meta. Imagine that these guys are actually playing a D&D campaign (probably at the DMs house or something) and that the film is merely showing what they're doing. Hence the fates of the characters changing so quickly as someone buys the DM a pizza or something, off-screen.

Also, mate: Ladyhawke
